Last sunday my very beautifull niece got baptized. The name she got is Lydia.
The only thing left is to take here amateur radio lisence hihi.
Many lovely relatives and family friends where invited.
Here is a photo from the best of the best family friend ever hihi
George SV2AGW stayed for a couple of days in my house and once again we had the opportunity to talk about ham radio but also about memories from the past and ideas for the future.
It was fun !
SV2AGW @ SV2DCD shack

SV2AGW,SV2RM @ SV2DCD shack

As for my radio activity this month we had the 9M0L dx pedition.I had Spratly island in my log from past dx pedition many years ago.But only one qso on 20m ssb.
This one was a big opportunity to work the guys as many bands as possible
Well i did it.8 bands (10m,12m,17m,15m,20m,30m,40m,80m)out of 10 bands worked and 13 qso with that one on 10m SSB missing from their online logbook.
I heard the guys on 160m also but they couldn't copy me.
Anyway it was a nice dx pedition and congrats to the operators for the patience.
For my friends working on VHF bands keep in mind that we have great TEP openings on 6m band almost every afternoon and evening
And of course the  E SPORADIC season is coming. And the VHF contesting season.......with many surprises for you ! Stay tuned !

March 25th Greek Independence Day

I shall always recognize you
by the dreadful sword you hold
as the Earth with searching vision
you survey with spirit bold
From the Greeks of old whose dying
brought to life and spirit free
now with ancient valour rising
let us hail you, oh Liberty!

TRIATHLON DX CONTEST

It all started in August of 2011. That was about when it occurred to Mike, SV5BYR that a big Greek Contest was missing from international Ham Radio Contest Calendar.  By the end of September this idea became mature and so the  "Triathlon" was born! A triathlon is a multi- sport event involving the completion of three continuous and sequential endurance events. And as you have already guessed, it is a Greek word. We had to change a bit the name to Triathlon Dx Contest to match our activity. Actually, trying here to simulate the original Triathlon athletic event, we involved three major ham radio modes, SSB, CW, RTTY. It will be a 24 hour non-stop event divided in three sections, each one devoted to a different mode. There are some tentative rules of the contest that you can take a look. It will take place every Saturday, the 1st full weekend of February, debuting on 02-02-2013.

After all, what makes this particular contest unique is the special gift for the winner! (take a look to the prize page)

In this point we have to mention all the Greek amateurs who are working to make this event alive: SV1DPI, SV1NK, SV2AGW, SV2DCD, SV5BYR, SV7JAR, SV8CS, SV8RX, SV9GPV, SV9DJO…
There is still a lot of work to be done and more details to be announced. Stay tuned!

Summer is over for SV2DCD

Almost one week after my vacations i must say now that it is over....
Lot of work was waiting for me after 8 days vacations in Zakynthos island as always. The foto is taken from cape Keri in the south west part of the island.
This time there was no ham meeting in the island like every year.Anyway i had eyeball qso for a couple of minutes with my friends SV8RV Denis,SV8AXZ Takis and SV8CS Spiros who won the 2011 6m marathon.
Also qso on 70cm local qrg with SV8RX George and SV8YM Tasos
Tasos had once again in his great laboratory my YAESU FT-847 and made a great job on it after a problem caused by continuous PTT

It is very impressive to know that the final RF transistors are ok after you see this damage !! I must say that the shack was full of smoke after this fire on the filters and the relays.Well done YAESU on the RF transistors hihi
Now is time for some work on the antenna farm. The CQWW SSB contest is coming.I have to put a 2el delta loop for 80m band and also to repair some of the beverage antennas.Anyone for help ??? hihi
